Design Nation: Office Space Design Forum 2019
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Held in Bangkok in 2019, the Paperspace x Design Nation Office Space Design Forum was a week-long event highlighting the future of the workplace in multiple perspectives. Featured speakers for this event include: Sombat Ngamchalermsak, Co-Founder of Paperspace, Arch. Puiphai Khunawat, Director of Creative Crews, and Pathamawan “Linda” Sathaporn, Mindshare’s Managing Director. The event was moderated by guest Nakarin “Ken” Wanakijpaibul, one of Thailand’s most influential social media personalities.
While the forum discussion was being conducted by the speakers with one half the audience over dinner, the other half toured the offices of Mindshare, which was recently redesigned by Paperspace. This created a parallel-learning experience for designers who wanted to either have an exchange of dialogue, or an analysis of actual solutions. Attendees of the tour were remarkably impressed with the recently-renovated office of Mindshare, and turned out to be a great success in exposure for the company, both through online and print media.
A diverse set of topics was covered during the forum discussion, ranging from simple design ideas to factors that can influence growth and sustainability. From an Architectural standpoint, Arch. Khunawat expressed a shift in perspective in how buildings are designed, and steps needed to be taken in order to address this change in decision-making. Sombat Ngamchalermsak said this coincided with Interior Design, and designers would need to look to the future in order to address new types of work behavior.
Ultimately, this event gave a profound learning experience for everyone in attendance about the new generation of the workplace culture, widely due to the wisdom of the featured speakers. Designers return to their homes a little more prepared and ready for their future, recognizing that the only constant is change itself.
