project summary

A government agency in Singapore set out to reimagine its workplace as a connected, future-ready environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and well-being across its teams.

The project focused on creating a cohesive workplace experience that brings people together under a shared vision — strengthening alignment while supporting a wide range of work modes, from focused individual tasks to cross-functional collaboration. The design also needed to reflect the organisation’s role as a central force within its sector, balancing operational efficiency with a strong people-centric approach.

the challenge

Teams were previously housed across vacant and shared spaces within other government offices, creating limitations in collaboration, consistency, and overall employee experience. Without a centralised environment, opportunities for connection, identity, and cross-team engagement were constrained.

The project set out to change this by establishing a unified workplace — one that brings people together, strengthens organisational culture, and creates a more cohesive way of working.

Beyond consolidation, the new environment needed to reflect a forward-looking organisation. It had to support modern work patterns, integrate technology seamlessly, and provide an experience that resonates with both existing employees and future talent.

The challenge was to transform a fragmented setup into a connected, future-ready workplace that supports both performance and people.

the solution

The design is anchored on a series of core principles that guide how the workplace functions and feels, creating a balanced environment that supports both individual and collective work.

A strong emphasis is placed on connectivity and interaction, expressed through a series of experience-led zones that support different modes of work—from collaboration and social interaction to focus, innovation, and learning.

Shared spaces, meeting rooms, and social areas are strategically distributed across the floor plate to encourage movement and cross-team interaction, while maintaining clear zoning to protect focus areas and minimise disruption. Work neighbourhoods further define localised team zones, supported by nearby collaboration spaces and touchpoints that enhance day-to-day workflows.

Flexibility is embedded into the design, allowing the space to evolve alongside the organisation with adaptable configurations that support changing team sizes and new ways of working, while integrated technology and smart office features enhance the user experience by supporting productivity in a smooth, intuitive, and efficient way.

A strong focus on well-being and sustainability is reflected throughout the environment, with natural light, greenery, and biophilic elements creating a healthier and more engaging workplace, supported by dedicated wellness spaces for rest and relaxation.

This workplace demonstrates how a well-designed environment can bring together people, technology, and space to support both performance and experience. By creating a flexible, connected, and human-centred workplace, the project enables teams to collaborate more effectively, adapt to change, and perform at their best, delivering a workplace that is both functional and engaging across diverse ways of working.
