The Real Purpose of Workplace Branding
The Real Purpose of Workplace Branding
22 September 2026
A workplace does more than support work. It gives people a tangible sense of who an organisation is, what it values, and what it stands for.
At its best, workplace branding helps create identity, connection, and belonging. It translates culture into something people can experience through the spaces they use, the people they interact with, and the moments they remember.
The most successful workplaces are defined by how effectively they bring an organisation’s story, values, and culture to life.

Branding Should Create a Sense of Identity
Workplace branding is most effective when it reflects something authentic about the organisation and the people who use the space.
For adidas Southeast Asia, that meant creating a regional “Homefield” that celebrates Southeast Asia as a melting pot of cultures, identities, and influences.
At the heart of the workplace is The Market, a social hub inspired by Southeast Asian night markets. Designed for dining, informal work, events, and town halls, it creates opportunities for employees to connect while reinforcing a sense of regional identity.
The workplace does more than represent the adidas brand. It reflects the community it was designed for.

Turning Culture into Everyday Experience
People connect with brands through experiences, not simply through visual cues.
The strongest workplace branding is often found in the everyday moments that shape how people interact with a space: arriving at the office, gathering as a team, meeting colleagues, hosting visitors, or spending time in shared environments.
At Thai Asia Pacific Brewery, the workplace draws inspiration from the organisation’s brewing heritage and portfolio of brands. Rather than functioning as a backdrop, these references become part of the employee experience, creating a stronger connection between people, place, and purpose.

In this way, branding becomes part of how the workplace is experienced rather than something applied to it.

Global Identity, Local Relevance
For global organisations, workplace branding also plays an important role in connecting global identity with local culture.
For one of our confidential global technology clients in the Philippines, the challenge was not to replicate a global workplace formula, but to reinterpret it through a local lens. Familiar design cues were retained, while local materials, craftsmanship, and artwork introduced a distinctly Filipino character.
The result is a workplace that feels both globally connected and locally grounded. The brand remains recognisable, while the experience reflects the culture, context, and people it was designed for.

Branding Can Help Build Belonging
Ultimately, the purpose of workplace branding is not simply to make an organisation recognisable.
It is to create an environment where people feel connected to the organisation, to its culture, and to one another.
Whether through adidas’ regional Homefield, TAP’s celebration of brewing heritage, or a globally recognised brand interpreted through a local lens, the principle remains the same:
The strongest workplace branding is not simply something people see. It is something they experience.
